Protect your property from water leaks

Keep an eye on water use while you’re away.

If a home will be sitting empty, you may want a way to know when something is wrong. A water monitor can alert you to unusual use. Some systems can also shut the supply off automatically.

What an automatic shutoff actually does

An automatic shutoff system controls a valve on the water supply. When the system detects a condition it is set to respond to, it can close the valve. The behavior depends on the product and how it is configured.

A sensor alarm works differently: it can alert someone when water reaches the sensor, but an alarm alone doesn’t stop the supply. Water-use monitoring can help flag activity that needs a closer look. Bryan can explain the differences when you discuss the property.

The installation depends on the house.

Some systems need power or Wi-Fi. The existing main shutoff may need attention, and plumbing changes may be necessary to fit a device. Ask Bryan about the requirements and price for the system you’re considering.

It’s also worth deciding who will receive alerts and what they’ll do when one arrives. That matters when an owner lives elsewhere or a rental is vacant.
